How to tell them apart
Gently pinch the fabric near the lower button: if you can feel a separate floating layer between the outer fabric and lining, there is canvas there. A perfectly flat, glued feel usually means fused. Bubbling or rippling on the chest of an older jacket is a tell-tale sign of fusing that has failed.
